Colourless Rainbow… invites the tribe

From the stables of Coast2Coast,Lagos, the publisher of the award-winning novels, Preganancy of the gods, and Treasure in the Winds by Odili Ujubuonu, Colourless Rainbow: Poetry of My Childhood by Senator Ihenyen, is now out.

Written in seven movements symbolic of the colours of rainbow in an ascending order, Senator Ihenyen’s first book, Colourless Rainbow, attempts to capture the disenchanting realities of our political and socio-economic experiences, in contrast with the innocence and dreams of childhood, using rainbow as a central image. From The Mirror, to The Tide, Senator Ihenyen paints the picture of our experiences in “blood, sweat and tears, green uniforms and white flowing garbs of deceit.” Col ourless Raibow is a journey of our continual search for the rainbow of our lives and love, hopes and dreams, amid despair and emptiness.

According to Conrad Anidiobu, the author of Inter-Millenial Verses, the debut collection of poems is a “ka leidoscope of human experi ences in varying waves…from the unacceptable to the incomprehensible, from personal perspectives to wider worldviews, from the local to the global, from the commonplace to ideals.”

Containing over a hundred poems, Donny Kingsley Okoh, the US-based author of ‘Unsung Sung’ described the poems as ‘all the work of a genius.’ And interestingly, the late Okey ‘Foot’ Okpa, one of the most respected editors and critics in the industry, had before his death in December 2008, described Senator Ihenyen’s craft as that of a “future poet Laureate”.
