Umuahia — THE Management of Abia State College of Health Technology, Aba, yesterday accused the former deputy governor of the state and governorship candidate of Peoples Progressive Alliance, PPA, in the April elections, Comrade Chris Akomas, of forcibly breaking into the premises of the college.
According to the Rector of the College, Dr. Appolos Ibelegbu, Akomas broke into the premises without permission and started sharing money to the students.
He said the PPA candidate did not conduct any political activity in the school but came in and “drove round and spread money to the students”.
But Akomas, in a swift reaction, dismissed the allegation as laughable, wondering how he could break into any premises by force.
But Dr. Ibenegbu said the former deputy governor did not respect constituted authority by informing the management.
He, however, admitted that he was not present when the incident happened.
Reacting to the development, Akomas said he could not have, possibly, force his way into the premises that had its gate opened and where some groups of church members were having their programmes.
Akomas said he was a member of All Stars Football Club which trained in one of the fields in the college.
According to him, the club invited him last Sunday to interact with them on the training pitch, an invitation which he honoured.
He said he did not have any arrangement with the students, adding that when they sighted him, they were happy and trooped out to cheer him and his entourage.
According to Akomas,, the students enumerated the problems facing the school, which he promised to address if he was elected governor of the state.
He said: “I did not have any arrangement with the students. They just sighted me and trooped out. They said that it was God that brought me there, that their school had been neglected for long by the government.
“They said they believe that if I become the governor, I will take good care of the school and pledged to support me.”
