The attack, notwithstanding, the campaign office, which was slated for commissioning, yesterday, to signal the official flag off of Timi Alaibe campaign was opened by the LP candidate accompanied by the party officials and supporters.

Meanwhile, the Bayelsa State government, has described the explosion as another orchestration of the party to attract media attention.

The state Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Nathan Egba in a statement, said “the dawn blast was part of the design to embarrass the President, who incidentally is from the area.”

Though no life was lost in the blast, it was gathered that the surprised attack, the third in the series of attack on the LP candidate was launched at about 4am.

The impact of deafening explosion, which shattered the windows and ceiling of the campaign office also destroyed a nearby makeshift structure and was said to have jolted the natives from their sleep.

The first attack was launched on his country home at Opokuma in which a policeman on guard duty was killed while a second attack was also unleashed on his supporters, who had thronged his Opokuma residence to welcome him back.

Vanguard visited the scene of attack and was told by sources that the attackers took advantage of the power outage in the area to strike.

The attackers were said to have come from behind the building and hauled the explosive device suspected to be dynamite at the campaign office, shattering the side widows and ceiling of the structure. Also a nearby structure built with corrugated iron sheets was badly damaged.
