LAGOS—An unidentified middle-aged man was, Wednesday, attacked by an angry mob at Jakande Estate, Oke-Afa, Isolo area of Lagos, for being in possession of several wads of fake Naira notes in different denominations.
The man reportedly stormed an electronics store located at the Landlord Association’s site, in the company of his male partner at noon. He was said to have bought a television set at the rate of N75,000.
However, when the sales girl discovered that the money used in payment was counterfeit, she raised an alarm.
Sensing trouble, one of the men with the television set, reportedly stopped a motorcycle and vanished from the scene. But his partner was not so lucky as an angry mob caught up with him and beat him up.
He was about being set ablaze when some persons, who identified themselves as members of the outlawed Odua Peoples Congress, OPC, arrived the scene and whisked him away, informing that they were taking him to a Police Station.
