Jonathan won’t distabilise Fashola’s govt-IMG

The Ijaw Monitoring Group, IMG, has described the alarm raised by a group called Lagos People Vanguard, accusing President Goodluck Jonathan of planing to destabilise the administration of Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State as untrue and misleading, saying that it was an attempt by the group to attract undue attention from Government House  for political favours.

IMG, in a statement by its Coordinator, Comrade Joseph Evah in Lagos, said,  “we condemn  the so-called group for using the office of the President to seek political relevance in Alausa. The ethnic groups in Lagos belong to one indivisible Nigerian family.

“That was why the IMG’s Food outreach  in Lagos are given to all tribes without discrimination. The Lagos State government has openly appreciated the efforts of  President  Jonathan to make the megacity dream a reality.”

According to IMG, the President believes in the greatness and prosperity of Lagos State, adding, “it was as a result of the President’s resolve to encourage Governor Fashola’s government that made him  move part of Nigeria’s 50 years independnt anniversary activities to Lagos.”

IMG advised the group and others “seeking cheap political attention to look for other means.”

“We are aware that this is the era of junk placard demonstrations for politics but we reject the use of the  President’s name in whatever form to achieve evil agenda.”

“We want to remind the group that the people of Niger Delta join thousands of Nigerians every  year to mark June 12 anniversary in Yorubaland and we will  not allow  anybody to create tribal tension in Lagos or any part of Nigeria”, IMG said.
