Imoke assures all equal playing ground in C-River

Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State has assured all political office seekers in the 2011 elections of a level playing ground irrespective of their political parties.

While receiving Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, one of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirants for the 2011 elections in Calabar during a courtesy call on him, Imoke noted that though Abubakar did not state the reason for his visit, the State would offer every one opportunity to express himself in order not to heat up the polity.

Imoke, who described Cross River as an ultimate destination in Nigeria, said though political office seekers come from varied backgrounds and might not speak the same language or believe in the same ideology there should be the principle of accommodation for everyone to have an opportunity for the nation’s democracy to grow.

He emphasized that it is only when the politics of accommodation is imbibed in the country that Nigeria’s democracy can grow and wished Abubakar success in his presidential bid.

Earlier, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who described Cross River State and its people as warm, commended the leadership style of Governor Liyel Imoke since he assumed office as governor as well as his commitment to serving the people.

“I am not surprised to hear or see the progress made in the State and I know you can do more if given the opportunity” he said while commending the State Government for giving a level playing ground to all participants irrespective of parties.

He expressed delight to be associated with Imoke politically and socially and wished him success as he was confident that under his leadership, the State will record tremendous achievements in the years ahead.
