TRADERS and other residents of Rivers State, have been enjoined to ensure they register in the ongoing voters registration exercise. Governor Chibuike Amaechi made the appeal when he took his voters registration sensitisation campaign to traders in major markets round the state capital.
The Governor advised electorates to make sure they vote in the coming elections as that was the only way they could choose who governs them.
“It is only by your votes that you can vote me out if you don’t like me and vote in the person that you like,” the Governor said.
He also assured that his campaign will be issue-based. According to him, the campaign period will offer every one aspiring to be Governor of the state opportunity to tell the people what they had done to lift the state.”
He further assured traders at Mile market that the stores at the newly completed market would soon be allocated to the original owners and not politicians. He said the factional problem among the traders was responsible for the delay in allocating the stores.
He said the phase two of the market construction would commence immediately after the allocation.
In their separate comments, president, Creek Road Market Women Association, Mrs Gloria Kalada_Nonju, and that of Mile I Market, Diobu, Chief Young Georgewill, thanked assured that they would mobilise traders to actively participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise just as they thanked the governor for the sensitisation visit.
