NFF to send Uche on course, assures her on World Cup

Eucharia Uche will head Super Falcons technical crew to the next female football World Cup. Nigeria Football Federation President confirmed this to us yesterday.

“We should learn from our past mistakes,” NFF President Aminu Maigari said on phone. He recalled that on the two occasions Nigeria qualified for World Cup (Korea-Japan World Cup and South Africa World Cup) and changed their coaches at the last minute the country courted failure and had it.

“Uche delivered even if she was not the best. Before she delivered we had failed to win the same tournament. I think it is too late to change her now. Let’s not repeat the mistakes of the past. Rather, we should encourage her.

She will be sponsored to a coaching course abroad and if it is possible we can beef up her technical crew by assigning another good coach to assist her. But the question of dropping her from the World Cup team or hiring another person to boss her is ruled out. That I can say on Uche and I have told her to be confident and strive to work harder to achieve results,” Maigari said.

After winning the Africa Championships, Falcons fell 8-0 to Germany in a friendly last week. The coach blamed the humiliation to the cold in Europe now.
