WARRI—THE congress of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Delta State, which was supposed to have been held on Monday was reportedly commandeered by some party big-wigs and did not hold, according to reports reaching Vanguard.
Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Sam Egwerome, who was contacted on the development, said no congress was held in the state to the best of his knowledge on Monday.
He said, “As a party chairman, I am supposed to be aware if a congress held in my state, there was none, materials were not sent from our national headquarters, INEC was not informed, and if somebody sits down in his bedroom and compiles names of people, that does not mean there was a congress, we have constitution in our party and how things are supposed to be done”.
A governorship aspirant on the platform of the party, Mr. Jude Ukusare also told Vanguard, yesterday, that he was not aware of any congress by the party on Monday.
He said he was waiting to hear from the leadership of the party on whether a congress had actually been held in the state before he makes further statement.
