Umuahia—Political aspirants for 2011 elections in Abia State have been advised to engage on issues-based campaign and avoid personality attack on fellow aspirants.
Abia State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief Anthony Agbazuere, gave the advice in Umuahia while reacting to comments credited to some governorship aspirants in the state.
According to Agbazuere, much as the governor will welcome contestants interested in vying against him, he would not condone incisive and damaging statements from contestants.
The commissioner said it was the duty of the aspirants to work towards sustaining the prevailing peace, progress and development in the state.
According to him, it is improper for aspirants to let their personal interest becloud their sense of reasoning.
Agbazuere boasted that the governor was sure of winning the 2011 elections, going by the calibre of aspirants that have indicated interest to run against him.
He pointed out that the governor had done very well in the state to deserve a second term in office and made it clear that the governor was sure of winning the forthcoming elections with not less than 80%.
Agbazuere, however, warned contestants not to take the governor’s peaceful disposition for granted and urged all well meaning Abians to rally round the governor to move the state to greater heights.
