LAGOS—Tragedy struck, yesterday, at Alausa, Ikeja area of Lagos, after three persons, a motocyclist and his two passengers, were crushed to death by a fast moving vehicle.
Their identities could not be immediately ascertained.
The motorcyclist, according to eyewitnesses, was trying to manoeuver his way in the traffic along Kudirat Abiola Way, when a Grand Cherokee jeep with number plate DZ 117 APP, ran over him and his passengers, killing them on the spot.
The incident was said to have caused an intense hitch in the free flow of traffic, until the arrival of traffic policemen from Alausa Division.
The policemen, according to the command’s spokesman, Mr. Frank Mba, removed the corpses to the public mortuary. He added that the case was still being investigated.
Police nab 3 robbery suspects
In another development, policemen attached to Alausa Division, at about 2.40a.m. yesterday, arrested three suspected members of a robbery gang who were allegedly on their way for an operation.
Recovered from the suspects, were a double barrel short gun, five live cartridges and a vehicle’s number plate.
The suspects, said to be driving a Honda Accord car with number plate BR 226 AGL, suddenly stopped moving on seeing the Police patrol van. Suspecting their move, the policemen reportedly intercepted their vehicle, during which some of the suspected robbers escaped into the dark, leaving three of their colleagues behind.
