The Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria, (ISPON) is expected in Tinappa, Calabar, the Cross River State capital today to trade ideas with the governor of the State, Liyel Imoke on how best to promote indigenous software products for national development and global competitiveness.
The government of the State, it was learnt, has put in place necessary arrangement to tread idea with ISPON officials on roadmap to barnstorm Nigerian software. agenda.
ISPONPresident, Chris Uwaje in a telephone conversation Monday, in Lagos told CyberLIFE with optimism that their discussion with the Governor of the state on national software development will go a long way in retooling made-in-Nigeria products for global competitiveness.
“India has done it. Nigeria also can do it as well. We have the talents. We have software products that can compete in the global market. We need government supports. National software agenda should be promoted especially now that the present administration has shown keen interest. We can do it. Indigenous software if given support can give Nigerian foreign earning more than oil and gas This is the time to do it.
This is the time to promote it. This is the time to support it. This is the time to sell it to the international market, ” Uwaje who is the apostle of made-in- Nigeria computer products noted without mincing words.
