Coach Isa Ladan Bosso has reacted angrily to report that he survived sack in Niger Tornadoes by the whiskers, claiming the management should rather be grateful to him for stabilizing the team.
The former Flying Eagles coach lamented that the same management, some of who were in the opposition when he led Tornadoes to promotion to the Premier League, stressing that Niger State is his state and nobody could stampede him in the club.
“The last time I saw a negative story in the newspaper, the chairman denied authorizing it and now they have done another one. But I ask; which type of management will tell a coach to change a player in the first minute?
“Some of these people in the management were in the opposition when I led the team to the Premier League and they are now enjoying the spoil which others toiled for.
The same people who have only paid 30 per cent sign_on fees of the players and at a point owned me three months salaries, yet they have the gut to threaten me with sack.
“I’m sure the governor is not aware they are still owing the players 70 per cent of their sign_on fees because he won’t be happy to hear it”, he said.
Bosso stated that the management ought to salute his technical competence, saying he led the team to a respectable position despite the circumstance he found himself.
“First, they should be grateful that we finished well despite the odds. Of all the teams that changed coaches, only Tornadoes escaped relegation, yet the management is not happy. Secondly, I signed a two_year contract, which is still running and I can decide to terminate it if I’m not happy. So, they should know that I’m not the kind of coach to threaten with sack because I know my worth.
“As I’m talking with you, I have three offers from teams that pay well more that Tornadoes but I don’t want to leave because for the past five seasons, I hardly stay three months with my family and that is the reason I’m not considering the offers before me”, he said.
