Premier League sides, Kwara United and Kano Pillars, began their campaign in the Super Four in a goalless fashion at the Gateway International Stadium, Ijebu Ode on Wednesday.

Last season’s runner_up, Kano Pillars, had a better control for longer spells with Kamilu Ammani, Gambo Mohammed and Ali Rabiu failing to break the backline of Kadiri Ikhana’s side.

Ammani had the best chance of the first half on 24 minutes when he turned inside of his marker but Kwara United’s impressive goalkeeper, Kareem Yekeen, was present to foil his effort at goal.
Most of the first half was rather drab, as both sides failed to cut each other open.

With Kano Pillars’ head coach, Salisu Yusuf, sensing that his side lacked the cutting edge in front of goal having rested the likes of Thompson Joseph, Moses Ogaga, Musa Musa, Victor Namo and goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai, he opted to replace the starters.

He threw in Namo, Ogaga and Joseph to help earn a late goal but it was Rabiu that was culprit of missing Kano Pillars’ best chance of the second half inside added time.
