As the nation gets set for her 50th Anniversary Celebration, the proprietress of Oyeleke Memorial College Offa Kwara State has called on Policy makers in the country to make education our national priority. She made the call while speaking on behalf of the four recipients of the honorary doctorate degree awarded by the All Saints University of America.

The award ceremony took place recently at the conference centre, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife Osun State. Other awardees are Honourable Muhammad Kadiku, Executive secretary Lagos Island Local Government, Mr. Bolaji Robert, Chairman Oto – Awori Local Government and Mr. Michael Akusu, Chairman Delta State Union of Teachers.
Expressing gratitude to the University for recognizing her contribution to the educational development of our country, she observed that no nation can develop without a sound educational system.

Her words, “while I give thanks to God and All Saints University of America for the honour done me today I can only note that things happen only to the educated. So I want to call on our policy makers to make education our national priority.

No nation can develop without adequately funded educational system. All of us, both government and the citizens must work together to give education to all our children. We should all be involved in the struggle to eradicate illiteracy in our society.”

The representative of the University in Nigeria Chief Mathew Akinpelumi described the honorary doctorate degree awardees as people who have excelled in their various endeavors. He described Mrs Oyeleke who got honourary  Doctorate degree in educational management “a lover of children who has been giving scholarships to brilliant but indigent children.”

Chief Akinpelumi added that the award was meant to encourage the awardees to keep doing their best in the interest of the country.

Chief Mrs. Ayodele Oyeleke was born in Abeokuta 21 April 1946 she started her primary school at St. Peter’s school Ake Abeokuta and completed at St. Jude’s School Ebute metta. She attended St. Anne’s school Ibadan for her secondary education.

A Graduate of College of Education University of Lagos, She got married in 1970 to late Mr. Timothy Adebayo Oyeleke of blessed memory. She taught briefly at the University of Lagos Staff School before she moved her family to the North. She had to join her late husband who was transferred to Northern Flour Mills Plc. in Kano from flour mills Nigeria Plc. Apapa Lagos.

While in Kano, she worked briefly with the Kano State Ministry of Education as a teacher. In 1979 she started Sunny Day Private School in Kano which was relocated to Offa, the hometown of her late husband in 2003. Earlier, she had founded Oyeleke memorial college offa in 1999.

The college is a centre of academic excellence, a co-educational  institution that has been impacting high moral integrity on the children said Chief Akinpelumi during the award presentation ceremony.

Recently, All Saints University of America also honoured the daughter of late president Musa Yar Adua, Hajia Nafisatu Yuguda who is the wife of the Bauchi State Governor along with all other eminent Nigerians at the auditorium of the Nassarawa State University.
