Another 3 Policemen die in auto crash in Rivers

PORT HARCOURT — THREE Policemen lost their lives in an auto crash, Wednesday, along Taaba Road by Beeri Junction in Ogoni area of Rivers State.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Rita Inoma-Abbey, confirmed the development. The sad incident has raised the number of policemen, who  had so far lost their lives within the week to four.

It will be recalled that one Inspector Odee Stephen was gunned down on Tuesday by some suspected bunkerers while three others allegedly sustained severe gunshot wounds.

The Police PRO gave the names of those who perished in the auto crash as Sergeant Omale Mohammed of 56 Police Mobile Force, PMF, Sergeant Samaila Lawali and Corporal Anthony Emmanuel, both of 7 PMF.

The Policemen were said to be on patrol duty when the accident occurred. The three reportedly died on the spot and two others were rushed to a Trauma Centre in the state capital. Five others with minor injuries were being treated at a government hospital in Bori.

The PRO said a man, who claimed to be an Army Lance Corporal has also been arrested by the Police in the state around Choba area of the state.  According to her, “the man was arrested in company of two others.  He could not account for the car and an AK 47 rifle with number 558178, three magazines and 50 rounds of live ammunition found with him.”
