AKURE—A sum of N1billion is to be expended by the Ondo State government to renovate the five unity secondary schools and others across the state this year.

The renovation of the schools, according to the Education Commissioner in the state, Dr. Pius Osunyikanmi would complement the efforts of government on the mega model secondary schools being planned by government.

Dr. Osunyikanmi said government had already sent quantity surveyors and architects from the private sector to the schools for the assessment of the present facilities there.

According to him, “the state government is conscious of the monuments and the history that led to the creation of each of the five unity schools, adding that such would be preserved by government.

 “We have identified the schools progressively and in the next few weeks we will in a way draw up a framework of action to progressively restoring them to their normal edifying states and we will be starting with the five unity schools.”
