Ahead of a two-day working visit by President Goodluck Jonathan to Akwa Ibom State, a socio-political pressure group, Greater Ibom Mandate Group, GIMG,  has lauded Governor Godswill Akpabio, for spreading infrastructure development across the three senatorial districts of the state.

Secretary of the group, Mr Essien Ufot, in a statement, while welcoming the President,  said the even distribution of  dividends of democracy by the Governor portrays him as a true leader and icon of a new Nigeria, where equity and justice drive the levers of governance.

“We welcome our president to our state. While here, we urge him and his team to savour the legendary Akwa Ibom hospitality, epitomised by our cuisine, warmth and peaceful environment,” he said.

As a leader who believes that government must exist for the betterment of the people, Mr President would discover during his two_day visit that democracy indeed is working in Akwa Ibom”, the statement said.

“We predict a very busy schedule for the President going by the sheer number of projects to be commissioned while in Akwa Ibom. These projects include the ambitious housing scheme,  which seeks to produce about 10,000 affordable houses in the state.

These would be spread in estates across the three Senatorial districts of the state. The estates are to be located in Uyo, Ikot Ekpene, Oron, Eket and Ikot Abasi. But it is not only in housing that the Governor has excelled.”

“Jonathan will find ongoing and completed works in road construction and rehabilitation, healthcare delivery, education and much more an improvement in the living standard of the people.

The Presidential team would be delighted to inspect several projects in the state including the dualised Ekim Itam Road, Nung Udoe, Use Ikot Amama road, Nung Udoe Itak road and the completed bridge in Iyire.

They would also be thrilled by the Tropicana Entertainment Centre, along Udo Udoma, Uyo, Ito Road, Atan Road, Market Road, Chubb and Etok Akpan Road, the Ikot Ekpene, Abak Highway, a federal road, constructed by the state government, as well as Afaha-Obong – Etim Ekpo -Iwukem – Urua Inyang Road,” he added.
