Standards Organisation of Nigeria(SON) has carried out a Federal High Court order to destroy faked Alteco SuperGlue and other substandard products valued at N159.4 million, vowing to toughen surveillance on both locally manufactured and imported superglue products in the country.

Addressing newsmen after the destruction exercise at the Organisation’s dump site in Sagamu, Ogun State, Head, Enforcement, Suleiman Isa, disclosed that the burnt 996 cartons of Alteco SuperGlue was in compliance with a judgement of Justice I.N.Auta of Federal High Court, Lagos.

According to him, Messrs. Ejidike Ikenna Iyke Ansey & Co.Ltd) faked the products owned by the Alteco Chemical PTE Ltd & Ric-Ken Merchants Ltd. He said that with this judgement, the organisation has taken drastic action against local manufacturers and importers of any fake products, whether it meets Nigeria Industrial Standards(NIS) or not.

He said that other products destroyed were pneumatic car tyres, safety helmets, electrical bulb including expired Benson &Hedges cigarette.

“These substandard products failed critical parameters of the relevant NIS and were therefore found to be unsafe for use,” he said.
