A pressure group committed to good governance in Delta State, the Inspired Group, has commended President Goodluck Jonathan’s declaration to overhaul the electoral system to guarantee free and fair election in the 2011 general elections.
The group in a statement, yesterday, by Mr Michael Tidi and Mr Ejiro Amurun, national Co-ordinator and Secretary, respectively said, “as we look forward to a free and fair elections in 2011, with an outright overhaul of the electoral system to correct glaring anomalies recorded in the 2007 elections, we commend the new Nigeria spirit, which President Jonathan represents. We hope these reforms will bring an enduring and lasting democracy to our dear nation.
“We also use this opportunity to commend our amiable President for his visit to Delta State.
The visit underscores his good working relationship with our Governor and approval of his landmark performance in the state,” he added.
This was evidenced in the President’s inauguration of the Delta State Teaching Hospital and headquarters of the Nigerian Navy Logistics Command.
“We equally commend the peaceful manner Deltans have been living together under the administration of Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan. This is a pointer to the fact that our Governor is delivering on his mandate,†the group said.
