Delta Waterways sues for peace during Jonathan’s visit

By Emma Arubi
WARRI—DELTA Waterways Security Committee, DWSC, has appealed to Deltans, particularly the youths, to maintain peace and shun anything that will portray the state in a negative light when President  Goodluck Jonathan, visits the state on Saturday.
Secretary of the committee, Mr. P. Origho in a statement in Warri, yesterday, said,  “we have since drafted our men to enlighten Oghara community and its environs on the need not to allow any group or groups to use their community as a platform to foment crisis during the President’s visit.”

“The responses the DWSC have got so far are encouraging. Specifically, the Ovie of Oghara, His Royal Majesty, Oreki II told our delegation to his community that there would be no trouble. The youth leadership said they would not make trouble and would not allow outsiders to infiltrate the community, while the Ethiope_West Local Government Area has also put security measures in place”, he added.

“Some former militants have also reached out to the Committee on their own  to assure us that  they will not do anything to embarrass President Jonathan and Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, who have shown commitment and doggedness in the liberation of the Niger-Delta region”, added.
