The Bureau of Public Enterprises, BPE, privatised 149 enterprises between 1999 and 2009, the Director-General,Â Ms. Bolanle Onagoruwa, said in Abuja, Thursday.
According to her, the Bureau successfully privatised 40 enterprises from 1999 to 2004; 69 enterprises from 2005Â to 2006; 39 enterprises between 2007 and 2008; and one in 2009.
“In the period under review, 25 port terminals were concessioned with the National Electricity Power Authority,Â NEPA, corporatised and unbundled into 18 companies, â€˜â€™she said.
She said various bills, among them, the Railway Bill, Inland Waterways Bill, Roads Fund Bill, the Postal SectorÂ Bill and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Bill had been completed and were awaiting the approvalÂ of the Federal Executive Council, FEC.
Onagoruwa stated these while receiving members of the Senate Committee on Privatisation who visited the agency toÂ commence a two-day oversight tour of privatised enterprises within Abuja.
