18 kidnappers nabbed in Delta

ASABA—EIGHTEEN suspected kidnappers have been arrested in Delta State,  while two persons are also in police net  over pipeline vandalization.

State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Charles Muka, who confirmed this to newsmen, said “out of eight cases of kidnapping reported between April and May this year, 18 persons were arrested while five are already facing charges in the court.”

On the vandalization of pipelines, the PPRO said, “on May 20, 2010, at about 0115 hours, Abor patrol men received information that some people were vandalizing AGIP oil pipeline located at Ibrede village Abor. The men stormed the area and arrested two persons (names withheld) while three other suspects escaped and efforts are on to arrest the fleeing suspects.”

He further told reporters that two persons were arrested in connection with ATM card fraud.

On robbery, the state command’s spokesman said “10 cases of robbery incidents were reported between April and May this year, in which 19 were arrested and 10 already in court.”
