Jos crisis: Constable, 3 others arrested with ammunition

Abuja-As the dust of  the Jos crisis is settling, the police at the weekend, averted moves towards another round of attacks with the arrest of one of its own, Police Constable Adamu Usman, a native of Plateau state and three others with assorted ammunition destined for Jos, ostensibly to carry out fresh attacks.

The three persons arrested with Police Constable Usman by the Police are Musa Adamu, Abdukadir Mohammed and Salla Wuyep. They were arrested between Saminaka and Jos at about 11. 30 am, in an OPEL VECTRA salon car during a stop and search exercise duringwhich the  ammunition were found.

The quantity of  ammunition and the makes recovered from the ammunition suspects include 3 metal boxes containing 3, 000 rounds of (7. 62mm) live ammunition, 301 rounds of (7. 62mm) extra live ammunition and 25 rounds of (0. 9mm) live ammunition as well as cash of N310, 900.

Confirming the arrest, Force Public Relations officer, ACP Emmanuel Ojukwu said Police investigation showed that one Abdullahi, living at Ungwa Rogo, who is now at large, hired the policeman and the others, and provided them the money (unspecified amount), to buy the ammunition from Gusua, Zamfara state.
