The list of aspirants for the Ekiti Central Senatorial seat is swelling with the latest addition of another veteran journalist, the former Lagos State Commissioner of Information and Managing Director of Television Continental (TVC) Mr. Dele Alake.

Dele Alake

A couple of weeks ago, we reported that former Governor Niyi Adebayo, prominent journalist, Babafemi Ojudu and serving commissioner of Information, Lagos state, Barrister Opeyemi Bamidele, are interested in the ticket.

Interestingly, these gentlemen who express progressive idealism will be seeking the sole ticket under the Action Congress, save for ex-governor Niyi Adebayo who may look elsewhere for his ticket, most probably because of his closeness to a group of Afenifere, which does not go along with AC.  The other three are perceived to be close allies of  Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

What this will lead to is that some may give up their ambition and perhaps get compensated.

A source hinted Societywatch that the formation of the Mega Party can also offer similar opportunity to some of these aspirants.  The calculation according to our source is that whether Action Congress or Mega party, both are progressive platforms that can be used to get the slot.

Dele Alake, an accomplished media man, whose life is anchored on goodwill, has always said he’d like to affect his environment positively.  May be it is time?
