AWKA—THE Peoples, Democratic Party PDP, in Anambra State has set machinery in motion for future elections in the state with the setting up of a nine-member caretaker committee to run the affairs of the party in the state.
The meeting in Awka weekend where the committee was set up, was the first well attended since the Feb 2010 governorship election in the State which was won by the candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Mr. Peter Obi.
Addressing party supporters, the PDP candidate in the last election, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, urged the members of the party to put behind them, the Feb 6 election and work towards winning all the future elections in the state.
According to Soludo, the inauguration of the caretaker committee was part of steps aimed at putting the party in the right shape and charged members of the committee led by Mr. Cosmas Agagbo to see themselves as the vehicle through which the party would get to what he described as the Promised Land.
Soludo who restated his belief in making Anambra the African Dubai Taiwan, described members of the committee as people of proven integrity in their various fields and hoped they would justify the confidence reposed in them.
