The London Fashion Week, Catwalk Report 1

London Fashion Week opened February 19 to raving reviews on the quirky designs of Britain’s new talents. The Autumn Winter and Spring/Summer collections were a fusion of esthetics, drama and plenty of folds.

Pleats of endless chiffon and satin, intricate Victorian prints, elaborate necklines often tied with large bows, dresses with fitted waists accentuating a woman’s form ruled the runway.

Over the years, the British Fashion Council, the body responsible for organizing Fashion Week increased the number of shows from 15 to 48 over the past 12 years- a testament to the popularity of the shows .Inspired by the positive response of the LWF as the fashion forward platform for British fashion,   support increased   from the corporate world. This no doubt has made the London Fashion Week the success it is today.

Although, credited with raising the fashion profile in Britain. The LWF is also blamed for the increased rate of Anorexic models and stick thin preference by designers. The arguments back and forth have been so virulent that there is now a call to ban stick thin models, also referred to as size 0 models.

Size 0 models are so thin, that there are fears that stick thin models are responsible for the high rate of Anorexic disorders in Britain.
