NDDC: Edo youths protest Omorodion’s nomination

By Simon Ebegbulem
BENIN—EDO South Youth Coalition, ESYC, a youth organization in Edo State, has vowed to make the state ungovernable if the Senate clears the nomination of Mr Donald Omorodion, as the state representative in the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

In a statement signed by National Coordinator of the group, Comrade Etinosa Erhahon, made available to Vanguard, the group stated that “our action is premised on our resolve that anyone who is a stranger to the growing agitations of the Binis and Edo people in general cannot be supported for the position no matter the caliber of supports the person enjoys from elsewhere or suspicion quarters.

“We are not unaware that the nominee has been endorsed by Senator Ehigie Uzamere. This earnestly provoked our protest letter against the person of the Edo senator for his preference for unpopular candidates. The fellow is not known to have supported any popular cause of action of Edo South people. We support wholeheartedly the petition written against the nominee by Senators Odion Ugbesia and Yisa Braimoh.”

The statement added that, “the seeker of such an office must be responsible and known to have been disposed to the struggles which the calling of the office entails and not the other way round.

This is why we insist that the position be either given to the last nominee Jude Ise Idehen or Mathew Iduoriyenkenwen who has a vast experience in the handling of the office having regards to his prudent management of the Board’s resources without blemish.

“We will make the state ungovernable if the senate allows itself to be used in discarding the allegations advanced by Senators Yisa Braimoh and Odion Ugbesia. This is because they bother on national security and integrity for the good of the Board and the state” it stated.
