KADUNA — The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has once again condemned the renewed sectarian crisis in some parts of Jos, Plateau State, saying time has come for the people of the area to seek genuine reconciliation for the “good of the whole†state.
Reacting to the massive killings of innocent women and children in the Jos South area of Plateau in the early hours of Sunday, ACF said the people had no alternative to living together in tolerant accommodation of their differences by recognising the values of humanity that unite them.
Some Muslims who were apparently avenging the death of their members during last month’s crisis were said to have encircled some villages in Barki Ladi and Ryon local government areas and killed hundreds of people including mainly women and children in the early hours of Sunday.
However, in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of ACF, Mr. Anthony Sani, the forum said no faith ever allows circles of revenges as such unbridled cycles would leave “all of us†blind.
The statement read: “ACF again condemns the renewed sectarian clashes in some villages in Barki Ladi and Ryon local government areas of Plateau State which claimed many lives and properties worth millions of naira.
“It is even worst when the victims are hapless, innocent women and children who have no hand in the internecine crises.
“It is noteworthy that no faith ever allows circles of revenges, precisely because any unbridled practice of an-eye-for-an-eye would leave all of us blind; and nobody has the right to make victims of others simply because he had been a victim.
“In any case, all societies thrive by ultimate reconciliation with their feuding factions. It is time for genuine reconciliation that is not act of cowardice but patriotic courage for the good of the united whole in Plateau State.
“People have no alternative to living together in tolerant accommodation of their differences by recognising the core values of humanity that unite them.â€
