Entertainment guru and the creator of Nite of a Thousand Laughs (NOTL), Nigeria’s longest running comedy/music show, Opa Williams, has unveiled his loaded package for 2010.
Williams has decided to begin the year with a talent hunt show fittingly tagged: “1000 Laughs Hunt-Comedian Nextâ€.
Elaborating more on the new initiative, primarily aimed at helping the youths, especially the raw and talented as well as giving back to the society, Williams explained that the hunt will see himself and his team travel round the major cities of the federation in search of these budding talents.
Among the cities slated for the hunt, which begins in April are Jos, Abuja, Benin, Port_Harcourt, Calabar, Enugu, Ibadan and Lagos.
“We would pick the best two from each of these cities visited. Again, each city winner gets a quarter of a million Naira, while the runner up will go home with N100, 000. Both will have the opportunity of performing at the grand finale, which holds in either Lagos or Abuja. These finalists will also perform at the States level of Nite of a Thousand Laughs.
Then, the overall winner will go home with half a million Naira, a brand new car and have the life time opportunity of performing in all NOTL editions for the year, as well as other top comedy shows. It is our own little way of helping to further grow the comedy industry because NOTL, as the flagship of all comedy shows, started it all 15 years ago.â€
Williams further disclosed that he’s already having fruitful discussions with MTN, towards successfully hosting the reality TV show.
