Sowunmi Opeyemi, an upcoming actress in the Yoruba home video industry has a lifetime score to settle with men. Following the shock and disappointment she has recorded years back  in earlier relationships, this  pretty actress has vowed never to have anything to do with men.  In this brief encounter, Opeyemi narrates her ordeal to HVP.

*Opeyemi...Love? no , not now.

With age on your side, are you not thinking of getting married?
Very soon, I will get married.
Then, how are you contending with your men admirers?
I don’t have time to do anything with anybody again.

Does it mean that you don’t have any man in your life at the moment?
No, I don’t have anybody. For now, there is no man in my life. I just want to face my career first and foremost.

Why do you have to take such decision?
Because it’s not a must to have a man in my life.
Are you saying that  you have not fallen in love before now?
I used to have a man in my life before now, but it’s not any more.

What happened, or was he not the right person?
May be, I will answer in the affirmative. He was not the right person.

Who disappointed who?
He disappointed me. Please, I don’t want to talk about him anymore.
How did you feel when you realized that you were not together anymore?
I felt very bad, and heart broken . But like every other woman that has had a similar experience, I had to move on with my life. It wasn’t the end of the world for me.

When did it happen? Was it after you   signalled your desire to go into acting?
Exactly. When I veered  into the world of make-believe after  graduating from the university, he decided to call off the relationship for no  reason. I’m a graduate of History and Diplomatic Studies of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State.
He must have been afraid that he would loose you to someone else in the industry?
Something like that. I think  he was afraid that I was going to  be snatched away from him, or achieve more fame than he has done.

Did you bother to find out why he called off the relationship?
I did everything to keep the relationship but he was fed up with it. So, there was nothing I could do than to allow him do his bidding.

And after that horrible experience, you became afraid of falling in love..
Oh yeah. I ‘m taking my time and not to be in a hurry to start off another relationship. May be, before the end of this year, I might change my mind to give love another chance.

Are you saying the wound in your heart is yet to heal?
Certainly, I have gotten over the shock. It’s no longer inside of me.
Who among the Yoruba actresses do you admire most?

I admire Mercy Aigbe. I also admire Funke Akindele. Funke is a great actress. I like her carriage and acting. She’s good. Unlike many other upcoming actresses, I don’t have anything against her. She’s a role model to me.
