For the first time in the history of Nigeria, the movie industry popularly known as Nollywood on Thursday endorsed the candidacy of Prof Chukwuma Soludo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the February 6 polls in Anambra State .
The movie stars who graced the occasion of Anambra Stakeholders Interactive evening with Soludo tagged “An evening with Soludo†in Lagos expressed open support for Soludo in his bid for the governorship race.
The celebrities numbering over 30 who represented the body expressed confidence in the ability of Soludo to re_direct Anambra politics for the benefit of all Anambrarians and beyond.
Some of the celebrated actors and actresses which included Chidi Mokeme, Ernest Obi, Jennifer Eliogu, Ndidi Obi, Oge Okoye, Ebube, Benitar Nzeribe, Chinyere Winifred, Benedict Johnson among others unanimously agreed that “Prof Soludo deserves all the support as he is a great leader whose leadership qualities are admirable as his willingness to serve is encouraging.â€
Ernest Obi who spoke on their behalf said a vote for Soludo is a vote for the transformation of the state for good, saying that “We are convinced that Prof Soludo is the best candidate among all other equally good candidates. It is now time to settle for the best. Soludo is not only a man of great vision but a realist that has been tested and proven to be an excellent achiever†he noted.
The fashionable celebrities explained that they would not close their eyes “when a credible candidate that will deliver the state is on the race†urging Anambrarians to ensure that Soludo emerges victorious.
The group also lauded the combination of Soludo with his running mate Senator Emma Anosike, explaining that “it is a perfect matchâ€.
In his speech, which he delivered extempore, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, cautioned Anambrarians not to be indifferent in the February 6 polls as the time to deliver the state from bad governance is now.
Also he said there is the need for the volunteer of the elites to be part of the political process so as to ensure that the state does not continue to drift.
Soludo made the call in Lagos at the interactive session with Anambra Stakeholders tagged “an evening with Soludo†which was massively attended by Anambra indigenes and friends.
