NIGERIA is not a breeding ground for terrorists  nor is it one for the exportation of terrorist ideas.

The average Nigerian, Moslem or Christian, is a peace loving individual who wants a peaceful environment to go about his normal business, according to Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.

It is on account of that peaceful nature that Nigeria could cede a whole nation, Bakassi, in order to avert war with a sister African country and not a single Nigerian was on the street in violent disapproval of that handover, painful as it was and still is.  Nothing can be more peace – loving,” the former presidential aide said in a press statement.

She went on: “A clear proof that Nigeria is not a harbor for terrorists is located in the fact that we successfully hosted the under 17 FIFA World Cup without a single incident and also in the fact that no clandestine Nigerian groups claimed responsibility for the terror attempt of Dec 25, 2009.

On the contrary,  the radicalization, training and equipping of the young boy were all found to have been done outside the shores of Nigeria.

“We are hard put to unite even on issues touching on our collective interests, yet on this, which touches on a friendly nation, we have spoken with one voice. This is not only typically African, it is particularly Nigerian as our global peace–keeping initiative and generosity to our African neighbors will testify.

“In fact what should clearly count for us but which, unfortunately, is being grossly under played is the excellent character of a Nigerian father who loves the security of others so much that he was willing to sacrifice the love of  his own. Why are we not celebrating our own?

In America Mutallab would be celebrated as a hero. If Nigeria is not commended and rewarded on account of the virtue of one of her own, she should not be criminalized and punished for the singular waywardness of another.

“Moreover, it is palpably unfair to treat Nigeria differently on account of a wrong that nationals of other European countries have been guilty of in the past and whose countries were not so blacklisted.
