Rivers govt queries commissioners, appointee

PORT HARCOURT—  SOME Commissioners and top political appointees in Rivers State have been queried by the state government for being unserious with state functions.

Governor Chibuike Amaechi, who ordered the query, said he did it as a corrective measure. He said he was shocked to find that minutes after a scheduled monthly inter-ministerial meeting had commenced at Government House, Port Harcourt, was when some of them were sauntering into the venue, an action he said was very unexemplary.

A Government House press statement on the issue also said some special advisers and heads of parastatals were affected by the action of the governor. The statement failed to list the affected commissioners and appointees.

According to the statement, Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Magnus Abbe, is to issue the query. The governor reportedly ordered a head count when he got to the venue of the meeting and saw that the place was still scanty, about five minutes after the scheduled time for the commencement of the meeting.
