Oshiomhole wants Anenih probed
OVER 5000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Esan Central Local Government Council of Edo state, including the former National Woman Leader of the party, Herbetta Okonofua and the state Youth Leader of the party, Chief Francis Inegbeneki, yesterday, dumped the party for the Action Congress (AC).
Others who decamped to the AC, included the Chairman of the Council, Mr Emmanuel Agbale and his Councillors,  Secretary of the Council and the former House of Assembly ANPP candidate in the area, Bar. Osifo.

The decampees cited lack of internal democracy and the alleged dictatorial tendencies of the former Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih as reasons for their defection.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole who described the event as very remarkable because of the caliber of persons who were received into the AC, took the opportunity to take a swipe at Chief Anenih, and called for his probe of the over N300billion that was allegedly expended on roads when Anenih was Minister of Works.

He also accused Anenih of being insensitive to the plight of the youths in the state, saying that at the age of 80, the PDP leader should have given one of his younger aides the opportunity to grow by rejecting the position of Chairman of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) given to him by the Federal Government.

According to him, “As an elder I will not lie. Even the Oba of Benin has called on successive governments to fix Lagos-Benin road, so that the South region and Edo state can benefit from the dualisation project. But as a Minister of Works, he refused to work on that road and he left the office after spending N300billion and Lagos-Benin road was not fixed. Did I lie about it?”
