2010: Soludo flags off campaign

By Vincent Ujumadu

AWKA—PEOPLES Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, yesterday in Onitsha, flagged-off his governorship campaign.

The party’s national chairman, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, who spoke at the occasion said  “PDP has recognised Soludo as the candidate of the party for the forthcoming election in Anambra State and that is final.”

Though Vice Present Goodluck Jonathan and Senate President, David Mark, who were billed to grace the ceremony were conspicuously absent, the presence of Ogbulafor and Ebonyi State Governor, Martin Elechi, as well as other notable politicians made the ceremony grand.

Ogbulafor told supporters, who were at the venue of the event,  that PDP was convinced in its choice of Soludo to carry its flag for the 2010 race in Anambra State, noting  that it was a painstaking decision, he described as ‘miraculous.’

According to him, “Anambra is lucky to have such a credible candidate,” adding that the party was optimistic that he would deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of the state and liberate them from the ugly situation they had found itself in recent years.

Soludo, who spoke at the event said the flag-off marked a journey to a new beginning and urged all aggrieved members of the party to join his train.

He said that with the programmes mapped out by him, Anambra would rise again, insisting that there was need for everybody to join hands to make the state work again.
