The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) sitting in Abuja, yesterday, issued a bench warrant for the immediate arrest of the pioneer Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for refusing to appear before it yesterday to answer to criminal allegations preferred against him by the federal government of Nigeria.

On its part, Police authorities swiftly came out with their defence alleging blackmail on the part of the receiver manager whom they noted, as a very senior member of the bar, resorted to “cheaply popularizing himself in a matter that is subjudice”, noting that it was wrong to resort to self-help as in the instant case. The stand of the Police remains that they had no option in the prevailing circumstance as it relates to the case than to remain neutral.

Neither Ngige nor Gov Peter Obi knows how to stimulate the economy, to say nothing about our state becoming the Dubai or Taiwan of Africa. Can they tell us how many jobs they have created or big companies they have attracted to the state as governors? Gov Obi has a worse record. He has not employed even teachers in government –owned schools since he became the governor over almost four years ago.

This was one of the challenges which I faced. I said I must change it. I believe that if you want to do anything, you have to do it well. That I accepted to be the Chairman of the Council means that I have to change the institution for the better and which I am happy that I have done just that. People are already testifying that my coming into the office has really changed the traditional institution. I am happy that people are giving honour and respect to the traditional institution. That is what gladdens my heart.

‘After studying carefully the resolution of all the twenty state chapter chairmen, who were present, the BOT invited other heads of some political groups within the guild; Mr. Emeka Ike(president aspirant), Mr. Kanayo.O.Kanayo interim president of the care-taker committee and Mr. Segun Arinze(president from Ejike Asiegbu led fraction, who at that meeting accepted the BOT should form a government of national unity as a way forward for the guild.
