Former Green Eagles player, Charles Bassey (MON) has said that the Super Eagles  will look to “put the record straight” by showing their might in African football by beating Kenya today and pick the all important ticket to South Africa.

“I’m confident the team will beat Kenya in their place, tere is no doubt in my mind,” he said when contacted, but expressed fears that outcome of the game in Maputo between host Mozambique and leaders Tunisia may spoil the whole affair for Nigeria.

The former Wikki Tourists coach however predicted a 50-50 situation saying, “Our fate hangs on the score-line between Mozambique and Tunisia.. Otherwise I’m hopeful our boys will win in Kenya,” he stated.

With every expert or well meaning ex player banking on a Mozambican victory over Tunisia as the only guarantee of Nigeria playing in the World Cup and none willing to stick out his neck about the game, the belief in the team will further slide down.

“It has not been easy, everyone holding his heart not sure  whether we will qualify or not. That is not the best but it’s the situation we find ourselves. My only hope is that they will beat Kenya and we can now hope for the best news to come from Mozambique,” he said.
