Akpoyibo urges Nigerians to be security conscious

By Ifeanyi Okolie
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Marvel Akpoyibo, has advised members of the public to be security conscious  during this festive season as criminals have adopted new tactics and mode of operations.

The Commissioner who spoke yesterday during a donation of 10 computers to the command by members of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), at Ikeja, cautioned members of the public to be very careful not to be victims of the new trend.

According to him, the Command has reliably gathered that criminals particularly at night, throw raw eggs at vehicles’ windscreen after which they rob the occupant or occupants when trying to wipe it off. “We need to inform members of the public on the new trend that criminals operate with. But it has not started manifesting in Lagos State because we have not had any of it reported.

“We reliably gathered that criminals, particularly at night, throw raw eggs at vehicles’ windscreen and when the motorist attempts using his wiper, he would not be able to clean it off. When this happens, the motorist would be forced to stop and clean it, it is then that the hoodlums would come out from their hiding and rob the victim.

“I advise members of the public to be at alert all the time. And when this happens, they should not stop at that spot but move to a crowded and safe place to clean the windscreen,” he said.
