2011: INEC begins staff deployment

ABUJA—The Independent National Electoral Commission has commenced its planned personnel deployment to its strategic operational locations and states across the country.

According to a statement by the Commission’s Acting Director, Public Affairs, Emmanuel Umenger, the staff deployment will be ongoing and is part of preparations for the 2011 general elections. More staff will be shuffled and deployed in the days ahead depending on the appraised need of the various offices of the Commission.

“The development is particularly designed to strengthen the zonal head offices in the six geo-political areas as well as the processing centres in strategic locations in the country.

The Commission intends through the staff movements to enhance the capacity of its offices across the states, especially in the new regime in which the Commission has stopped the use of ad hoc staff for the conduct of elections in preference for its staff and youth corps members.
