Kidnapped PDP chieftain’s son freed

By Gabriel Enogholase
BENIN—MASTER Os-ayuki Nosa Adams, youngest son of Edo State’s Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Nosa Adams, who was kidnapped last Monday in front of his school gate, has been set free by his abductors.

Confirming this in a telephone interview with Vanguard, Mr. Adams said the youngster was left on the outskirts of Benin by his kidnappers, but would not say whether he paid ransom to the kidnappers or not.

Vanguard, however, gathered that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ogida Police Station, Mr. Greg  Anim Oshike, acting on a tip-off that a child was abandoned along the Benin- Iguobazuwa road, led his men to rescue the child.

It was further learnt that after confirming that the abandoned child was the son of the PDP chieftain, he personally re-united the boy with his father and family members.

The rate of kidnapping took a very dangerous dimension in Benin last week, as no fewer than four persons were reportedly abducted in different parts of the state capital.

Among those kidnapped were the former chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA),Mr. Solomon Odiase, a judge of the Customary Court of Appeal and a scion of the Benin Royal Family.

Consequent upon this, Governor Adams Oshiomhole, apart from beefing up security in the state, also promised to pay any person the sum of N2 million who would give information that could lead to the arrest of kidnappers in the state.
