Akpabio calls for harmonisation in public service

By Tony Nyong

UYO—Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State has canvassed harmonisation of the various government services in the state to enable civil servants seek inter-department transfers.

Akpabio, who made the call when the chairman and members of Akwa Ibom Assembly Service Commission presented 2008 Annual Report to him at Government House, Uyo, restated the need to harmonize the state Civil, Teaching, Local Government and Assembly Services to enable people to be appointed, promoted and moved to areas where there is paucity of staff to avoid retrenchment.

“There is need for synergy in the various services. There should be harmonisation in training and re-training of staff to enable some fit into any service they may have deficiency or lack professional proficiency and expertise,” Akpabio explained.
