Africa’s finest, 2face Idibia, proves yet again that he is truly unstoppable. While a few vocal critics have laboured to convince the public that the singer’s current album is less than the brilliant piece of artistic work, awards, an important quality indicator, have continued to prove that the opposite is actually the case.
Fresh from emerging double winner at the SMVA, after snagging three nominations (and two more in collaborative categories) at the Hip-hop World Awards, the album has earned the artiste yet another three nods at the African Music Awards (UK) 2009 scheduled for the 17th of October.
2face is in running for Best West African Artist, Best Hip-hop Song (Enter the Place) and Best Music Video. In their nomination notification letter signed by Christoph Von Kretschmer, the organisers stated thus: AWe believe 2Face will add value to the awards ceremony, as well as helping in exposing the incredible richness of African music and culture to the outside world.@
Speaking to www.infinit2.com moments after he was informed of triple nominations, 2face expressed gratitude to God Almighty and the faithful fans who continue to support him through rough and smooth. AThis is yet another reason to be thankful. I feel so blessed and grateful. We go just dey carry dey go like that. No shaking.@
Besides, the nominations 2face is billed to perform at the awards to be staged at multi million pound venue, Troxy in London and fans can look forward to yet another show-stopping performance.
Voting is public, via the official AMAs website and it opened at 9:00am (UTC) 29th of August 2009.
…Named most outstanding Naija youth @ Nyma ‘09
2face Idibia seems to have a brand new problem to deal with and he’s better come up with a solution fast. Not to worry. It’s got nothing to do with violent criminals or paid smear campaigners.
No, 2baba is not trying to figure out what motivates the guy who is about now scheming to invent a tale of a phone interview with Mary J. Blige where she’d claim she’s never met 2face and that the pictures in circulation were “photoshopped” into existence.
His new problem is the type that every artiste longs to have. It is the problem of needing to constantly redesign and expand the trophy cabinet. On Friday, August 28 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, the singing sensation was named Most Outstanding Youth in Music at the Nigerian Youth Merit Awards 2009.
The event was put together as an initiative of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in conjunction with Flytime Promotions to honour Nigerian youths who have distinguished themselves in various fields of human endeavour.
Considering the fact that he is running for seven awards in October at the MAMAs and AMAs (UK), Africa’s finest is definitely flying
