Lagos LCDAs : Cleric flays Yar’Adua

LAGOS – Leader of the Islamic Democratic Progressive Party (IDPP), Sheikh Al-Mansur Williams has said President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s new position on the creation of additional local government areas in Lagos State is not only lacking in tact but an indication of a leadership that has lost track.

Williams who expressed worry about the turn of things in the country also described the on-going religious crisis in some parts of the North as a further indication that the Yar’Adua administration has lost it completely.

Addressing newsmen in Lagos, the Islamic cleric, irked by Yar’Adua’s threat on the state of new local governments in Lagos, insisted that the move was designed to buy time for government’s apparent failure, more so that the time for another general election is fast approaching.

According to him, “It’s a way of buying time since election is fast approaching so that the populace can lose track of governance.
