For a period of four days, Insight Christian Centre, Ijegun, Lagos played host to who and who in the Christendom. This was in commemoration of her annual convention which took place between 23rd and 26th of July, venue was the church auditorium at Ile-Ibadan.
The programme with theme “This is wisdom†featured notable ministers like Bishop Aniete Etukudo, Pastor Dennis Inyang and Pastor Ayo Fadumiye among others with the third day of the event featuring financial empowerment where participants’ eyes were opened to the various ways of making wealth.
Group business editor of Vanguard, Pastor Gabriel Omoh who ministered on Saturday enjoined Christians to be faithful in tithes and offering, “For you to prosper in life, you must be faithful in tithes and offering. God’s standard cannot be dropped by any man, learn to invest in His work. It is very easy to pay the tithe of N10,000 but when you have a tithe of N1m and pay it boldly, that is why you can stand tall as a ti the payer and this means when you are ripe for breakthrough. Can you do what Abraham did ? not by mere singing Abraham’s blessings are mine. The principle of wealth creation is giving, you can free yourself from poverty, debt, wretchedness but the principle is in giving. You must invest your resources in the house of God. All he requires is the 10 per cent of your income†he cautioned.
Quoting the book of Mat 4: 8, Malchi Chapter 3 and Mat 25 Omoh said it is high time Christians re-discovered themselves rather than trying to be like somebody else, “God is an investor and he created you differently from any other person, so don’t be a copycat. A lot of people have buried their talents simply because they want to be like somebody else,†he noted.
He also told them to develop the potentials in them, “The gift of a man makes way for him, people like Ron kenoly, Don Muen have made their millions but they started as choir members. You must understand the kind of gift that God has given you, He gave man the authority to manage the garden until man disobeyed., God will not commit certain things into your hands until you are matured to do handle them. If we must succeed in life, we must partner with God; give to the less privileged, sow into the kingdom, you don’t need to be a banker or work in an oil company before you become a millionaire. All you need do is to develop the heart of giving,†he noted.
He also told them to cultivate the habit of savings, “No matter how small your income is, try to have a savings, watch out for opportunities you can plunge into like buying of shares or having a fixed-deposit account,†he added.
Also contributing, Chief hosts Prince and Judith Ufford kicked against the norm that encourages credit card in the Christendom, “Credit card system is in vogue among many countries of the world and that is why their economy could crumble the way it did. You cannot prosper financially if you live on credit card. You can have a direction and know what to do with your income but you cannot go far in life if your life depends on credit,†they said.
