Boko Haram scare in Ogun: Four suspected sect members arrested

THE of Boko Haram sect scare re-vibrated in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital MOnday as four persons alleged to be members of the sect were arrested by the state Police Command.

The suspects were said to have been arrested while distributing what the police described as “incriminating documents capable of inciting members of the public”.

State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Hasimu Argungun who made this disclosure while briefing the press on the activities of his Command assured that there was no cause for alarm adding that the suspects were caught distributing leaflets, almanacs and other incriminating documents at Ibafo on their way to Lagos thus nipping their plans in the bud.

He said “we have been able to arrest four of them along with the inciting and incriminating documents which they were distributing among tanker drivers along Ibafo-Lagos road.

Argungun said that all security agencies as well as the Police commands in Ibadan and Lagos as well as the Force Headquarters have been alerted.

“Let me assure you that there is no cause for alarm over this development. We are up to the task. I can assure you that those who attempts to cause wahala in the state will be dealt with”.

In a related development, the Command also paraded 6 suspected armed robbers who were caught at various location of the state while dangerous weapons, arms and ammunitions that were recovered from them were also exhibited.

Three suspected cultists were also paraded along with a 34-year old herbalist who was found with human skeleton. Fielding questions from journalists, the suspect, regretted his action saying that he wanted to use the human part for money-ritual purposes.

“This is the greatest mistake of my life. I regret my action. I want the police to assist me so that I can get off this problem. I did not know it will end this way.”
