The newly appointed Managing Director of First Bank PLC, Mr. Stephen Onasanya, will at the Nigerian- British Business Day, Tuesday, deliver an annual lecture tagged “Access to capital in the wake of global meltdownâ€
The event will hold at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
President, Nigerian -British Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Akinola Akintunde, who disclosed this weekend, said that the event would be Mr. Onasanya’s first public appearance after his recent appointment as the new Managing Director of First Bank.
According to him, the Nigerian-British Business Day is a day set aside to celebrate the business relationship between Nigeria and Britain.
“Our members use the opportunity to exhibit their products and services, attend the annual lecture and have a dinner where we give awards and honour to deserving persons who have contributed to the Chamber and to Nigeria / Britain trade relations,†he said..
He explained that up till last year, the event was a one day affair, but because of the increasing activities in the day and the need to give members more opportunity to express themselves, the Chamber decided to make it a two day affair commencing from this year.
Other highlight of the event, he stated are that this year’s ceremony which began Monday with an exhibition which was declare opened by the Vice President. Some exhibitors will be coming from UK. The exhibition will continue simultaneously with the other activities, which include the annual lecture and dinner.
The second speaker will be Mr. Aliyu Lawal, Director General Nigerian Export Promotion Council, he will be speaking on “How to export Nigeria out of global recessionâ€. The Chairman of the annual lectures is Chief (Dr.) Ernest Shonekan, former Interim Head of State of Nigeria.
