Wife of multiple award winner and prolific music impresario, Laolu Akintobi, a.k.a Laolu Akins, including his friend’s wife as well as her husband were abducted Thursday after they were attacked at gunpoint by armed robbers at Okada village, in Edo State.
HVP gathered that the victims were on their way to the eastern part of the country to attend a wedding ceremony when the incident happened.
Although no official statement has been released by the victims’ family as at press time. A reliable source however hinted that the abductors are demanding N40 million ransom for their release.
The news of the incident came to Laolu Akins while attending the launch of Ray Mike Nwachukwu’s new studio in Surulere on Thursday.
However, all efforts to contact him were futile as he was not in a good mood to comment on the incident.
Laolu Akintobi was one of the foremost music producers in the country. He was a member of the defunct group called BLO that held sway in the late 1960s and has produced award wining hit albums including Sir Shina Peters’ Ace and Shinamania as well as Adewale Ayuba’s Bubble, which won him a platinum for selling more than 250,000 copies.
