BENIN CITY—THE Benin Youth Council, BYC, a socio-cultural organisation in Edo State, has appealed to Governor Godwin Obaseki to rescind his decision to ban the use of schools for parties and burials in the interest of the poor masses of the state.

Noting that the recent policy of the All Progressives Congress, APC, led government in the state was anti people, “wicked and an affront on the customs of Edo people.”

The  BNC lamented that the decision will further pauperise the people of the state in the prevailing recession as many who would want to celebrate may not afford the cost of event homes.

BNC  in statement by it Secretary, Osadolor Okonzuwa,  noted that the decision “is too sudden on those who have made elaborate plans for marriages and burial of loved ones. Such decision ought to have considered the prevailing social arrangements, as the immediate execution would adversely affect finances and cause psychological trauma.”
