Ilorin – Fifty-one clubs have so far picked up forms to participate in the maiden Kwara Beach Soccer tournament in September.
The tournament’s Coordinator, Rasheed Saraki, made the disclosure in an interview on Sunday in Ilorin.
Saraki said that the organisers were still expecting more teams to pick up their forms before it closed at the end of August.
He said that work had started at the proposed site for the competition to ensure a befitting tournament.
The coordinator said the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of Confederation of African Football (CAF), would visit Ilorin, the Kwara capital on Aug. 29, to assess the readiness of the event’s sites.
Saraki said that the committee would be accompanied by the National Beach Soccer Team Coach, Adamu Ejo.
He added that the committee would be led by the Chief Executive Officer of Kinetic Sports Ltd., organisers of Lagos Beach Soccer Tournament (Copa Lagos), Samson Adamu.
The tournament’s coordinator assured Nigerians of a competition that would produce players for the country.
